Your deck grows but your speaking does not. Here is why vocabulary plateaus happen and how to change review, input, and output so words start moving again.
You are still reviewing. The card count rises. Somehow conversations feel identical to three months ago. That is a vocabulary plateau: activity without transfer.
Diagnose the plateau honestly
Are you adding words you never meet in input? Are reviews rushed? Are you only recognizing, never producing? Are all cards isolated translations with no phrases?
Name the bottleneck. Different problems need different fixes.
Cut new cards and raise retrieval quality
When overwhelmed, pause new additions for two weeks. Clear the backlog with spoken answers. Plateau often hides inside a swollen due queue you half-finish daily.
Switch from words to usable chunks

Force output on a schedule
