How to Learn Verbs Faster With Example Sentences

Verbs refuse to stick when you memorize infinitives alone. Learn them in example sentences and patterns so you can actually conjugate and use them while speaking.

Nouns are easy to picture. Verbs are relationships in time. That is why a list of infinitives feels productive and then fails in conversation. You need verbs inside sentences.

Always capture a model sentence

When you learn "to book," also learn "I booked a table for two." The sentence carries prepositions, tense, and realism.

Study high-traffic verbs first

Be, have, go, want, need, like, can, make, do, get. These combine with everything. Rare verbs can wait.

Practice one tense deeply before collecting all tenses

For beginners, a strong present and a simple past unlock more speech than a chart of moods you never use. Add tenses when your examples demand them.

Make cards that ask for the whole sentence

Prompt with a situation: "Restaurant / past / reserve." Answer with the sentence. This is slower than tapping a translation and much closer to speaking.

Lexyk cards that include context keep verbs from becoming orphan dictionary forms.

Group verbs by pattern, not alphabet

Motion verbs, thinking verbs, obligation verbs. Patterns help you generate new sentences.

Use voice drills for awkward conjugations

Say the same verb in I/you/we forms quickly. Rhythm reveals what your fingers hide on a keyboard.

Weekly verb workout

Pick five verbs. Write or speak three sentences each. Review them for seven days. Retire them when production feels boringly easy.

Verbs power sentences. Learn them the way speech uses them: in motion, inside examples, under light pressure.
